John 4:5-6 MSG
“He came into Sychar, a Samaritan village that bordered the field Jacob had given his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was still there. Jesus, worn out by the trip, sat down at the well. It was noon.”
The people of Israel had travelled away from abundant life, both in their heart and in their actions..and landed in Egypt, in bondage till God rescued them and brought them back…the land of Abraham and Jacob is the same land that the Israelites of Jesus time were living in.
As the woman at Jacob’s well commented later on in this chapter, Jesus IS better than the forefathers..and God drew Israel back to where they began in order to introduce them to his son, Jesus..the life-saving light.
Could this be paralleled, you think, to the way a spiritual move of God tends to take us through many travails and deserts to prepare us to meet his son, in some new and unique way…?
